“A voice is calling, “Clear the way for the LORD in the wilderness; Make smooth in the desert a highway for our God. “Let every valley be lifted up, And every mountain and hill be made low; And let the rough ground become a plain, And the rugged terrain a broad valley; Then the glory of the LORD will be revealed, And all flesh will see it together; For the mouth of the LORD has spoken.” Isaiah 40:3-5

Just what is the Glory of the Lord? Let us look at the word Glory and what does it exactly mean? In Hebrew, it is kâbôwd which means in a figurative sense heaviness or weight, but in a good way. It also means abundance and riches. The scriptures say that eventually the Glory of the Lord will be revealed to all people. But has anyone seen the Glory of the Lord in the past? Yes! Many times. Look at Exodus 24:9-11 “Then went up Moses, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel: And they saw the God of Israel: and there was under his feet as it were a paved work of a sapphire stone, and as it were the body of heaven in his clearness. And upon the nobles of the children of Israel he laid not his hand: also they saw God, and did eat and drink.”

Then the most powerful account is when Moses saw God’s Glory in Ex 33:18-23. “And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory. And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy. And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live. And the LORD said, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock: And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by: And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.”

Moses literally saw God’s glory. God said He would make His goodness pass before Moses. God’s glory is filled with goodness, compassion and mercy. Notice God made a place for Moses to see His glory. He made provision for him. That is what God does for us. Moses asked to see God’s glory. Can we see God’s glory today? Yes! If you have not seen His glory it is either because you do not have a relationship with the Lord, or you have not asked to see His glory. Child of God you can pray and ask to see God’s glory. He does not withhold it from His children. He delights in showing His glory. We all will eventually see God’s glory, don’t wait till at the last, live in God’s glory now. Minister in the Glory of the Lord now. Walk in God’s glory. That is why we are called children of the light! It is His glory that shines through us to touch this dark and dying world!

“But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 3:18
